When God Delays the Miracle

In 2 Kings 3, three kings march confidently into battle only to discover they are dying of thirst in the wilderness. Their crisis exposes a deeper truth: we are always desperate for God, we just do not always realize it. Through Elisha, God teaches them that worship must come before breakthrough and obedience must come before provision—“Make this valley full of ditches.” God sends the water, but often asks us to dig first, proving that faith trusts what God says more than what circumstances show.
